Surgery for Jackson

Donation protected
Jackson is a half husky, half German Shepherd. He is a good dog with a personality full of a wonderful sense of humor. A little over a year ago his owner joined the military. The care that his owner lined up for Jackson fell through. It worked out that my grandparents and I could take care of Jackson.

Jackson recently ruptured his left anterior ligament. The ligament, no doubt, was torn from Jackson running around in the deep Minnesota snow this year. The veterinarian said there are two options for Jackson at this point. He can either have the surgery, or would need to be put to sleep, which would be hard for his owner a marine, going overseas shortly. Jackson's veterinarian said having this surgery would improve his quality of life, and potentially give him many more good years. Unfortunately, according to the veterinarian this is not a simple surgery. He will need to go to the University of Minnesota Veterinarian school or another specialty school. Upon calling the U of M, we were told this would be a 3-4 grand surgery, and they will not do any surgery pro bono. At this time Jackson is on pain killers 2 times a day.

My grandparents who are in their 80's, and I, who am in nursing school full time, cannot afford to pay for this surgery. We know his owner would be devastated if Jackson were to be put down.

This is why we are reaching out to all of you. We need help in getting Jackson this surgery.
