Jackson's Cancer Fund

Donation protected
As some of you may know, Jackson has had a recurrence of cancer. The prognosis from his doctors was poor, estimating a survival period of 10-12 months. A milder form of chemotherapy was offered here in Boise, but it would be what is termed “salvage therapy”, and would add some time, but not eradicate the cancer.
So, we have rejected this prognosis. Basically our philosophy is that (prognosis) is simply one possibility. It is just as possible to have alternative, natural,... holistic or experimental treatments provide a permanent remission or cure.
We have just found out (like yesterday!) that Jackson has been accepted to participate in a major clinical study at UCSF. This is really exciting stuff! It is immunotherapy, using modified measles virus to stimulate his immune system to fight the cancer.
Jackson and I need to be in SF before Monday, April 10th. He will need to be there 6 weeks total for follow up appointments and tests, after the initial intrathecal procedure. I am hoping he will have the once in a lifetime chance to explore SF thoroughly while he is there. I plan to fly down with him, and would like to be able to stay with him as long as possible. They have provided accommodations for us near the Medical Center, which is awesome. Unfortunately travel expenses, food, local transportation and adventure spending money are not included. I am hoping that this is not only a chance for healing, but also a truly fantastic experience for Jackson.

Jackson's story:  On August 3, 2015 , after returning from a music festival in Pemberton,  Jackson was taken to the ER for severe headaches.  He was then diagnosed with a brain tumor . This turned out to be  Medulloblastoma, a malignant type of tumor, which had spread to his pituitary gland and spinal cord.  On August 6, 2015 the gifted neurosurgeon Dr. Bruce Cherny removed a golf ball sized tumor from the area between the brain stem and the cerebellum.  99% of the tumor was removed.  He was then treated with an aggressive  combinatiom of  radiation, and inpatient chemotherapy over a period of 9 months.  The treatment impacted his memory, eyesight, balance and so much more.  Jackson worked so hard, spending many hours in rehabilitative therapy, and was determined to get his life back.   He did it and then  began moving forward planning to finish his education, get his driver's license , and go to college.   From May 2016 to March 2017 Jackson was cancer free.
