Our sweet Jack is a 10 year old pug/Jack Russell mix with an unwavering love of bones and signature pug head-turns.
Frankly, he's the source of a lot of joy for a family, that like many others, have fallen on some hard times. He's a fighter that's been through quite a bit, as he's blind and diabetic, and just got over HGE (hemorrhagic gastroenteritis) about three months ago, but yet he's still so full of life and love. He truly is man’s best friend.
He now has, and clearly has for some time and gone undetected, bladder stones that are blocking his urethra. We took him to the emergency vet today. After an x-ray was performed, they confirmed this was the problem, and they had to catheterize him as his bladder was filled. After draining his bladder, he lost 3 pounds… So needless to say, this is a serious situation, and one that needs to be addressed immediately as the bladder will fill again and he cannot urinate on his own. Without said surgery, his bladder could rupture at any time, and that's something that cannot be risked.
We're following through with the emergency surgery, as it's something that is treatable and for that reason, we aren't willing or ready to give up on him, nor is Jack ready to give up. The money situation is secondary to our love, but it would be a lie to say that we aren't in need of some financial help here. The last thing we want is for anyone to feel pressured into donating, but if you're in a place where you can, it would be extremely appreciated. The cost is already estimated above the goal, and anything to chip away at the bill would be huge for us. Thank you.
