Jack Murray's Medical Fund

Hi, my name is Jack Murray.  This is my little pal, Sneakers.  I made this Gofundme page to help pay my large bills from a recent hospitalization, ongoing medical bills and COBRA medical-insurance premiums since I am unable to return to my job.

For 25 years, I worked for the Regional Publishing Company.  In the last ten years, I served as the Editor of The Regional News.  Since the paper was a small business, I received no severance pay, short-term disability or retirement benefits.  Additionally, I am ineligible for Unemployment Insurance because I can't work, and Social Security Disability Insurance because I have to be unable to work for one year.  

Shortly before Thanksgiving 2016, I suffered an episode of severe anxiety and bipolar depression that snowballed months after my beloved father died.  He was a wonderful man whom I loved very much, and his death devastated me emotionally.  Here is a picture of the two of us shortly before he died.


The loss of my beloved Dad, coupled with some medication side effects and other challenges led me to being hospitalized and ultimately no longer capable of doing my job.  

In my work, I enjoyed helping others, and my wife, Jessica, provided counseling to many people at very low or no cost.  Now we need a little bit of help ourselves, and it is very hard for us to ask for help.

My wife and I got married four months before my hospitalization, and we had to cancel our honeymoon because of unexpected expenses.  Now we are struggling to pay my medical bills and $1200 a month health-insurance premiums on my wife's income - which has suffered from recent insurance changes and the demands placed on her as my primary caregiver. 


When we married, we hoped for a wonderful life together, but my illness has caused great financial distress.  If you could help us, we would be eternally grateful, and we promise to pay it forward when we can.  

I do so hope to get better and get back to my life.
