The friends and family of Jacqueline McNulty are reaching out to ask for help during an unfortunate time. Our little Jack received some very unsettling news this week. After a week hospital stay and an array of tests, she found out she is living with a rare and aggressive cancer called Leiomyosarcoma. Luckily, the cancer was discovered before being considered terminal - currently in stage 2 of 3. Though radiation is likely not an option for our Jackie due to treatments she received as a very young child, the doctors feel the Leiomyosarcoma can be cured with a personalized treatment plan that will likely require surgery and visits with a variety of specialists.
For those who were not aware, in mid October Jackie admitted herself to the ER at St. Mary's Hospital, due to extreme swelling and pain in her leg. Jackie was diagnosed with severe blood clots extending from the top of her abdomen down to her left thigh and right knee. Someone with such extensive clotting would normally qualify for an operation to break up the clot. Jackie, however, was unable to receive this procedure due to the cause of the blood clots - cancerous tissue found surrounding the clotted vein.
Currently, her mobility is greatly limited as she can only remain on her feet a couple minutes at a time due to the tremendous pain resulting from the still present blood clots. This has left her unable to work and provide for herself. Doctors cannot tell us how soon, or to what extent, the clots will heal, and are rightfully focusing on the cancerous tissue. Despite this heavy news, we are grateful that the clots revealed the cancer and she now has the opportunity to tackle this disease head on.
Jackie has had her fair share of adversities in the past and bounces back each time with her boundless energy, strength of will, positive attitude, and enthusiastic embracing of life. Nonetheless, this hardship has already been incredibly taxing financially and she has the added stress of struggling to stay afloat while battling this disease. In order to ease our Jackie's mind and allow her to focus all her energy on healing, we are looking to raise funds to help cover medical and living expenses during her recovery.
