Hello friends,
As some of you know, my son Jack sustained a traumatic brain injury in 2012. Since then, he has been suffering the effects of that injury. Over the years, he has been seen by over 50 doctors, visited many hospitals and clinics, and undergone countless procedures, many of them painful. After 6 long years of trying every possible treatment, his doctors have decided that a surgical procedure called “Occipital Nerve Stimulation for the Brain” is now necessary. Unfortunately, the cost of this treatment, well over $20,000, is far beyond our means. This is why we are reaching out to you.
Jack was injured during one of the very first football practices. He had just started Oregon High School as a freshman. From that day on, Jack’s life was completely altered. He was unable to attend school full-time or participate in school activities with his friends. And now, 6 years later, he is still unable to socialize with his friends and family, or engage in activities outside of the house, including work.
Jack can only tolerate an activity for 30 to 60 minutes at a time. Any longer and his pain increases to an unbearable level. Also resulting from the head injury, he now has a sleeping disorder called hypersomnolence (excessive sleepiness), disruption of the circadian rhythm, anxiety and depression.
Financially, I have already spent thousands of dollars. Insurance has covered very little, and will not cover this surgery. All the medications and treatments Jack has been subjected to have not been effective. This treatment promises pain reduction, reduced medication requirements, and an overall better quality of life. I really want to be able to offer this to Jack and give him every opportunity to enjoy life again.
