In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, Assalamu Alakium wa Ramatullahi Wa barakhatu, Dear brothers and sisters.
I do not have the habit of asking for help, whether that be with my homework or with such remarkable things as this, but today I entreat you with a heavy heart and a burdened soul to help me find relief. I am a 17 year old convert to Shia Islam. I come from a militant and extremist Sunni family who, upon finding out about my conversion, kicked me out on the streets. Since I was a child they have abused me, physically and mentally for not conforming to the narrow-minded extremist view which they embrace. As a child, and a teenager, I was routinely beaten, forbidden from attending school, reading books, making friends, and especially learning more in depth about other schools of Islam. I found the school of Ahlul Bayt (AS) by happenstance, and from there I felt it had the most evidence and I accepted it. I began to practice Taqiyya as my family believes it is not only lawful, but it is obligatory, to kill Shia. Eventually however, they found out as I refused to sit silent when they demeaned the Ahlul Bayt (AS). After this, they beat me heavily, cursed me, and attempted to kill me. My life was saved by the intervention of the local police who were called and who took me out. However, because of this I cannot return home, nor do I have any place to go. I therefore humbly request that you, my brothers and sisters, please assist me. I am a female and as such I cannot safely live on the street nor can I live in a shelter with men. I must maintain my modesty and I need much assistance for this. I need any amount you can offer, and you can know for sure, I swear by Allah, that your money will not be abused or misused and will only go towards housing for myself and my savings in order to achieve my dream of pursuing religious knowledge and scholarship abroad. I happen to live in one of the most expensive cities in the world, and as such, it is hard for me as a 17 year old student to afford rent. I ask again, with even more tears in my eyes, and pain in my soul, that you, my dear brothers and sisters, reach out and visit me with your charity and kindness. Thank you all, and may Allah preserve you all and your families from such calamity as this.
I am asking for $10,000 to help me cover living expenses for awhile as I cannot attend school and work full-time to support myself in my city. The most I can do is work part-time to supplement myself accompanied with the donated money. The average cost of a private apartment/basement suite in my city is $1000-1500/month, and moving is out of the city to go elsewhere is out of the question as I need to complete my high school education first. I will use the money to help me pay rent as I have about 6 months school to complete, for which I'd need about $7000 for rent, as I cannot work as often due to it. $1200 would be used to furnish the apartment to be comfortable, and $500 for transportation costs, $1000 for comestibles, and $300 for emergencies.
