I am Gene Delcourt and after 23 years as a Social Studies teacher in the Madison (WI) School District, I am retiring and pursuing a dream I have had since 1989.
I am starting a business building Earth friendly caskets for environmentally conscious people.
The caskets will be made from locally sourced wood that I will mill myself and be completely metal free. I am trying to raise $6000.00 to buy some of the equipment I will need to get this operation going. (A laptop computer, a thickness planer, a Jointer. I will be retiring in June and hope to begin immediately.
Last year my Father-in-law passed away, after a long illness and our family took care of all aspects of his funeral at home. Caring for him during his illness and conducting his funeral at home was among the most healing and meaningful experiences of my life. I have come to realize that caring for our own loved ones, after their passing, brings us back to something sacred and fundamental and so I'm seeking your help to reclaim this precious obligation for all of us.
