Help “GRIZZ” Keep Calm & Ride On to Fight Cancer!
Gary “Grizz” & KayLynn Grant Family

Gary “GRIZZ” Grant is an unforgettable Cowboy! To know him is to love him (and his adorable wife!). He’s lived the “cowboy logic” way his entire life and how fortunate and lucky we all are for it!

"Now a cowboy's got a set of rules that he lives by day to day, If you ask for his advice, he'll more than likely say: If it's a fence, mend it. If it's a dollar bill, spend it before if burns a hole down in them jeans.   If it's a load, truck it. If it's a punch, duck it. If she's a lady, treat her like a queen. That's cowboy logic, every cowboy's got it, It's in the way he lives his life and the songs he sings. That's cowboy logic, every cowboy's got it. He's got a simple solution to just about anything. If it's a job, do it. Put your back in to it. 'Cause a little bit of dirt's gonna wash off in the rain. If it's a horse, ride it. If it hurts, hide it. Dust yourself off and get back on again. That's cowboy logic, every cowboy's got it. It's in the way he lives his life and the songs he sings. That's cowboy logic, every cowboy's got it. He's got a simple solution to just about anything!" -Cowboy Logic lyrics by: Michael Martin Murphey

Grizz is now facing one of the toughest rides of his life: diagnosis of Esophageal Cancer. He’s holding on tight and staying on this rough ride amazingly well! However,  the ride is getting extremley tough and the expenses are mounting greatly day by day!

From his growing up years in Hooper, Utah, to raising his family in Ogden, UT, he brought his work ethic and cowboy way here to Cowley, WY. He and KayLynn have embraced Cowley, WY and we are so very glad they are here!

There were many early sunrises and often very late sunsets where Grizz has happily dusted off his boots to provide and care for his sweet wife, five children, grandchildren, and truly just about anyone and everyone who needed help. Grizz was a Bull Rider Team Roper, Bare Back and Saddle Back Rider, Roper and "Pick -Up Man" for many years! This he did with great energy and absolute zero complaints day in and day out.  This is just who "Grizz" is!

Grizz has now got to dust off his boots once again as he gets on the ride for the treatment of Esophageal Cancer.  He’s a man of great faith, incredible sense of humor, man-of-many-talents (he can fix anything!), has the coolest-beard-ever :), an avid hunter and fisherman, dedicated husband, Dad, Grandpa & friend, frugal and inventive, and has a deep love for his great family and LDS Church.

In August of last year, Grizz was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. It was determined that Grizz would need to undergo radiation and chemo and surgery to try and rid the cancer.  The treatments were extremely difficult for him in many ways.  Notably though, it was the loss of appetite, extreme fatigue, and his heart going into A-Fib throughout this process continued to make this diagnosis more difficult.

Unfortunately, after one of the many treatments, Grizz fainted at home and ended up rupturing his eye-socket, breaking his cheekbone, finger, a couple of teeth and some ribs!  He was taken to the local hospital and it was discovered that Grizz had multiple blood clots in his arms, legs, and lungs.  Therefore, he was quickly life-flighted to Billings, MT for immediate surgery to remove the clots.  He spent a week in intensive care and contiues to fight hard to start the recovery and healing process.

In addition to this, it was decided upon his recovery from the blood clot surgery to go ahead and set up another major surgery.  This would be for the removal of his cancer ridden esophagus and the upper portion of his stomach.

He underwent a very invasive and complex surgery in Salt Lake City, UT, on December 21st at the University of Utah/Huntsman Cancer Center.  The surgery went well overall but it came with a very long recovery process, continued check-ups, trips to Utah for specialized care and tests, as well as expensive medications. All of which have caused multiple setbacks and the LONG-TERM need for him to be on a unique feeding tube and oxygen 24/7.  He is now currently  in the hospital fighting Pneumonia.

As you can only imagine, the cost of such a diagnosis, treatment, surgery from skilled surgeons and Dr.’s, ongoing treatment and care is a great strain for Grizz and their wonderful family.  Even with insurance, the extremely high deductibles, copays, medication adjustments, and medical costs are beyond what can be manageable and payable.

All donations received will bring about much needed reprieve and peace of mind to be able to provide and care for Grizz and KayLynn in the best way possible.  ALL donations will be ever-so -humbly and graciously received.  This will undoubtedly give them a boost to an already difficult outlook and give some much needed sunlight to a situation that seems very dim even amidst their amazing optimism.

So, we ask and THANK YOU MOST SINCERELY for your donations and support to help Grizz: Keep Calm and Ride On to FIGHT ESOPHEGOEAL CANCER!
