Help Izabella Get a Prosthetic Eye

Donation protected

Our beautiful baby girl Izabella Sophia was born on November 10,2015. When we were 20weeks pregnant we found out she had a rare genetic abnormality. Our little girl didnt have a left eye. The doctors called it Anophthalmia./Microphtalmia of the left eye. The doctors never even seen a child that had it before. I remember sitting there in the dark room on the cold table crying wondering what I did for this to happen to my baby. I called Eric and had him leave work to come to the doctors office. I remember the doctor asking me atleast 2 maybe 3 times if I would consider abortion. I told him that was definitely not an option and he had the nerve to ask again. I lost it..Eric came and we sat down and talked to a geneticist. She explained to us what could have happened. Our baby didnt get enough chromosomes from one of us. (Later on after she was born we found out Erics great hreat grandmother was born without one of her eyes)..After we left We were still in disbelief and scared for our baby. We started searching the Internet for information on this condition and how to take care of a child who is half blind. We are currently traveling 3 hrs one way to receive treatment for her eye at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia every 3 weeks we make the trip so that The doctors can put expanders in her eye socket to stretch it so that a prosthetic eye will fit. We knew it was going to be hard but we did not think it would be this hard. We travel all over Southern Pennsylvania from Hershey Medical Center to Lancaster to the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia to see 3 different specialists and we have 3 different therapists that come to our home to work with her. After she was born we also found out she has a Heart Defect where her aortic valve is on the opposite side of her heart And it caused vascular rings to form around her trachea which is eventually going to cause problems with her breathing and swallowing when she starts eating solid food. Her heart doctor needs to do surgery on it within a few months. Our baby also has scoliosis to where she has a 23° curve on her spine and a 6th hemi- vertebrae instead of 5. When she is 2 she will most likely need to have rods put in her back to correct it unless a miracle occurs. I had to quit my job to become a stay at home mother so that I could take care of my daughters needs around the clock without having to worry if she was being taking good care of at a daycare center. We also have a wonderful 8 year old daughter. Their Father my Husband is our only source of income. We honestly did not want to have to resort to doing this but we really need help coming up with the money for Izabella to receive a Prosthetic Eye, and gas to get to all of her appointments. Her health insurance doesnt cover a prosthetic  and its literally thousand of dollars..We greatly appreciate anything you have to offer. We will post updates for those who want to follow our journey. Thank you all for taking your time to read our story. We appreciate any donation big or small, even if you cant donate please share our post so that others may see it..Thank you and may you have a safe and happy long life.
