Alex’s Chemo Treatment

I went to school with Alex, and back then she was an intelligent, eccentric, vibrant and outspoken young lady. Imagine my shock when she reached out and told me she had a cancerous brain tumor! When we spoke that first time earlier this year, she sounded defeated. She’d asked a lot of people for financial help as her single mom had done the most she could raising funds to treat her, but that wasn’t enough. She had so many people turn her down, she sounded so discouraged and desperate. A few of my friends and I rallied around and put together what little we could. A go fund was also facilitated for her by some of our well meaning ex school mates earlier this year too. Cash was raised to cater to her immediate needs and cover some of her treatment, unfortunately that wasn’t enough either. Spoke with her on Saturday, she’s hopeful and taking each day as it comes, even though there are bills to pay and no funds to pay them. She presently needs about 2 million Naira to continue her chemotherapy treatment at a specialist hospital in Ibadan, if 2,000 of us donated N1,000 each or 4,000 of us donated N500 each we would be able to cover this.
