On April 17, 2016 we lost one of our brothers in blue, former FDLE Special Agent Supervisor Dan Cerione. On that Sunday, Danny passed away unexpectedly leaving a void in the lives of his family, friends & colleagues as well as the millions of Floridians he never met, but spent decades protecting.
His FDLE family has created this page due to the overwhelming number of requests to help that have come in. It is hoped that this fund will assist in easing a burden that was suddenly placed on his family.
As many of you know, Danny battled ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) couragously over the past few years. His fight not only showcased the focus and determination of Danny but his humility and innate ability to touch so many lives in a positive manner.
During the summer of 2014, the "Ice Bucket Challenge" swept the nation and Danny's FDLE family rallied around him in a tremendous show of support. Statewide, members of Danny's FDLE family shared photos and videos on a Facebook community page created for him at: It's About Hope Community
What the participants did not realize at the time was that the dumping of icy buckets of water would not be the highlight of that day. No, on that day Danny Cerione stole the show. On that day, Danny gave a speech that most, if not all, would agree was one of the most captivating, powerful and loving speeches anyone had ever heard. For those who have not seen it, and for those who wish to see it again, it is attached below.
As we have done in the past and will continue to do, we are asking for our FDLE family to once again rally around our brother Dan and his family. Please help us, help the man, who has helped so many.
