Rainbow Cafe: YES! Daycamp!

For LGBTQIA+ youth, schools aren't always the friendliest places. In rural areas, our youth are often isolated from friends and supportive networks as they embark on the stressful task of navigating a new school year.

As a back-to-school activity for our youth, Rainbow Cafe of Carbondale, IL hopes to host the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance to facilitate a YES! (Youth Empowerment Saturday) day camp, providing a day of bonding, empowerment, and support through peer workshops, hiking, social activity and fun! Youth led workshops include  Safer Sex, LGBT Culture, Illinois Legislation Affecting LGBT Youth, Queer Identity, and Improv.

Our youth have been working hard all summer preparing for this day to empower themselves and their peers! But we do need your help with this project.

As a nonprofit organization, Rainbow Cafe relies on financial help from our community to continue providing services and safe space to our LGBTQIA+ youth, ages 13-19.  Please help us fund our daycamp to empower our LGBTQIA+ youth as they head back to school!
