Isle of Wight Challenge aka 106km/66miles!

On Saturday 4th May I (with my good friend Lara Middleton by my side) will be taking on the Isle of Wight Challenge... that’s a 106km (nearly 66 mile) walk around the outside of the Isle of Wight. In one go...
WHY?!
Several people have (quite sensibly!) asked if I am doing this for charity... primarily I am doing it for the personal challenge but if I can raise any money for a good cause at the same time then I count that as winning already... and it may just give me that extra bit of motivation to keep moving!
WHICH CHARITY?
The cause closest to my heart right now is that of Mrs East’s playground.
Mrs Sue East was the headteacher at St Andrew’s Primary in Bath until she died late last year.
I only had the privilege of meeting her a handful of times but it was clear from the first that she was one of those people who had found her true vocation at which she excelled. The warm, friendly, inclusive ethos of the school is testament to her hard work and endless energy and love for her job and her ‘creatures’ (the children). Even whilst she was extremely unwell they were in her thoughts - she spent her final days making them each a butterfly card and wrote them the most amazing, honest and beautiful goodbye letter.
One of Sue’s wishes was to be able to build a new playground for the foundation stage at the school as she believed in the importance and power of play in education for young children... so any money I raise will go straight into that fund in her memory.
