Isis' Midwifery Journey

Donation protected

I'm excited to announce that I will be starting my midwifery program in July 2020 on a full tuition scholarship! I feel humbled to be afforded this opportunity. Everything is in alignment as I find myself answering the call to midwifery. Finding midwifery has been like finding myself. It's felt like a return to home. And it's at home that I intend to serve each birthing family throughout the childbearing year.

Although my tuition is covered, I still have quite a few expensive books and supplies to purchase as well as additional travel expenses and continuing education opportunities including a 3-day midwifery skills workshop, that I must pay for out of pocket.

I am asking for help covering the cost of the following:
Books & Supplies - $1000
3 Day Skills Workshop - $520

Please give what you can. If you can't give, please share! If you prefer to purchase a book from my book list or would like to purchase one in addition to your monetary donation, you can find the list here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3UFT5FFJR94A1?ref_=wl_share

About me:
In no particular order: I am a Spelman College and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign alumna, sociocultural anthropologist, daughter, sister, podcaster, doula, writer, dreamer, some say a healer, lover, soon-to-be-student midwife, wife, and homebirth mama of the Princess Warrior herself. Everything I am and everything I do is for my own healing as well as the healing of the generations beyond and before me. In this birth work, I hope to continue to inspire maternal healing as well as the radical notion that birth is a normal life event and that we (especially as Black people) deserve to have pleasurable and peaceful, prenatal and birth experiences wherever we choose to give birth--even at home! For the past year, I have been sharing Black home birth stories on my podcast. You can listen on all major platforms and at www.homecomingpodcast.com !

I currently live in Central Illinois where there are NO Black midwives that specialize in home birth. Together we can change this. I am on the path to becoming a midwife that will be trained in the way of our ancestors. Midwives like us are in need of a tremendous amount of support. We rely on communities that will advocate for us as this ancient field of midwifery continues to grow and challenge the status quo in birth. I am so ready to serve you!
