Personal Story
Hello, my name is Isaiah C. Daggett, I am a sophomore and a first year member of Team Hammond FIRST Robotics. For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed building things with random materials such as boxes, string, plastic, metal, you name it, I could find something to make with it. If it was trash to someone else, my mother, it was the beginning of a new creation for me. Over the years on my own I’ve made bow and arrows, sling shots, boomerangs, kites and I’ve even attempted to make a skateboard. However, I didn’t have the necessary tools so that was a bust. I’m also interested in magic and cardistry and I’m quite good at that also. I am a very good student and look forward to pursuing Engineering as a college major and perhaps minoring in Computer Science.

Purpose
Making those things were fun and exciting at the time, but that was all child’s play. Now I have the opportunity to build, create and program in the “big leagues” as a member of Team Hammond FIRST Robotics.  The mission of the FIRST Robotics team is to encourage high school students like myself to become innovators and leaders of Science and Technology by providing Mentor-based programs to engage us in building science, engineering and technology skills. FIRST believes that this program will help in producing self-confidence, better communication and leadership skills as well as stimulate well-rounded life capabilities. As a member of this team I will have an opportunity help build and program an actual ROBOT.  The team we will have a predetermined amount of time to build and program the robot in order to have it ready for competitions. We will participate in at least three competitions and hopefully advancing to the Nationals (the fourth competition). These events begin in March and culminate in April of 2018.

How you can help
Here is why I am making an appeal to you. The team sponsors cover all expenses for the Robots (about $15,000), entry fees, and travel expenses. We, the students are responsible for our hotel expenses for each trip. Each trip is three to four night stay.  We are asked to raise $700 for these expenses by February 17, 2018. I humbly ask for your support which would allow me to participate in such an endeavor.  An opportunity to be a part of such a team as Hammond FIRST Robotics would be completely awesome. Please feel free to visit the website and learn more about what my teammates and I will be doing. Just visit,  www.firstinspires.org.
