Childrens Heaven is a day program for girls 105 at risk girls in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. For 10 years now, Children's Heaven has improved the lives of orphaned and vulnerable girls who have lost one or both parents to AIDS. It's mission is to embrace, empower and minimize their socioeconomic vulnerability .
Ethiopian Orphan Relief (EOR) is a USA based non profit organization supporting Childrens Heaven since 2008.
Here is the problem... Children's Heaven supporters (including EOR) have raised $ 95,000, but need $140,000 more. We have been fundraising for 4 years and recently found the ideal property. The land is currently at risk for being sold to another buyer. The land is safe walking distance for these at risk girls and has the potential for sustainability with land to farm and sell goods.
In 2008 Ethiopian Orphan Relief rented a home in Addis Ababa for the program to run from which moved the girls out of the rain , dust and temporary structures they were meeting in.
In 2011 the landlord raised the rent to an impossible rate and the girls moved to a piece of land close by while fundraising started in hopes of permanent solution for the housing crisis.
The girls are currently meeting in shipping containers.
