Ioana Groza was 37 years old when she was diagnosed with cancer in September 2016, a few days before the scheduled date to immigrate from Romania to Canada.Even if devastated, she and her husband Gligor Groza proceeded to a journey, a different kind than thought, one that they hoped will bring her salvation. But it wasn't meant to be...Despite the efforts of the Toronto Princess Margaret Hospital crew Ioana was taken away on April 23rd 2017.

Chloe is their 17 months old daughter;she doesn't understand what is happening. She will for sure though miss her mommy... Her touch, smell, hugs, the good night kisses, everything that means "mom".

Gligor and Chloe will return to Romania, and Ioana will be buried there too.

We are talking about a young educated Romanian family that immigrated legally 7 months ago to Canada, out of which the first 3 months they had no medical coverage and were in search of jobs while Ioana was sick. What a fight, what desperation and what a tragic ending...

The expenses the family had and those that will follow to return to Romania are significant.

I'm was touched by their story (please see link established by the Romanian community in Canada with bank account info: https://rocateachcanada.wordpress.com/2017/04/25/ingeri-pazitori-si-ingeri-cu-aripi-frante/).I can't imagine what it's like to be in their shoes in these moments.Because it is so fresh and I haven't seen any account yet on GoFundMe,I took the liberty of creating this account for them. GoFundMe has the option of creating an account on behalf of someone else.Mr. Gligor has been designated as the sole beneficiary of this account and no one else will have access to the funds but him.He has been notified of the creation of the account.

I'm not sure as of now of the amount needed ($25,000 is an arbitrary number) especially with the repatriation of Ioana's remains but if it touched you as it touched me, please take a moment to contribute as little as you can.Money can't buy health nor can they diminish their pain but at least we'll know we helped lift a bit of the burden in these moments of great need.
Ramona Ratiu is a friend of Groza's family and she will facilitate the funds transfer.
