INVINCIBLE: A Story of Hope

Donation protected

A young girl's strength is put to the test when she is forced to move with her mother away from everything familiar to her. A new school brings much pressure to fit in with her peer group and it is not long before she becomes a victim of bullying. Will she have what it takes to be invincible? Join us in this eye opening story told through music and dance.

A few months ago, Passion Academy started formulating ideas on how we could make our Winter Showcase special this year. We decided that we would not only tell a story this year, but that it would be an all original story intertwined with our Artist Development students' songs and using our dancers. We drew a lot of inspiration from the songs written by our artist development students. The characters and details of the story quickly came to life from there within a matter of days.

We were hesitant in the beginning about the subject matter that we chose for our story, because it is not your typical "fairytale recital." It is a heavy and serious topic that causes real issues with whom many have struggled. Fortunately, our story ends with hope, but there are dark places along the journey. We are choosing to shed light on the pain and struggles one can go through because so many suffer in silence.

The story follows a young girl who moves to a new town and is bullied at her school, which is unfortunately something to whom countless children and teens can relate. Sadly, a growing number of real-life cases of bullying incidents have ended tragically. Our story does not have a tragic end. It conveys the message to others that sometimes there will be struggles in life, but one can overcome them with help, and by gaining a different and grander perspective.

We are so grateful that we have opportunities such as this one at Passion Academy. The arts are a very powerful tool to get a story and message across to many. The music and dance in the story move people in a powerful way that words alone can not. This story is a voice for the many kids and teens in similar situations. Our hope is that by using the arts to tell the story, we will give the voices of the many victims of bullying a megaphone.

Your contributions to Passion Arts Foundation will be greatly appreciated and will allow us the ability to reach many people with this year's Winter Showcase story. Our hope is that it will move people to action so that there are more opportunities for others who are struggling and need a creative outlet.

Lastly, we hope that our students and many others are able to see the healing process that creative expression brings, and potential ripple effects of our passions when we use them to do positive things.

We hope that our students and many others are able to see or are reminded of the healing process that creative expression brings and potential ripple effects of our passions when we use them to do positive things.
