Jen & Jane's "New Home" Fund

This is more or less "part two" of our adventures in homelessness...

My disabled mother and I have been evicted because we were unable to pay our rent. We had a fund set up about 6 months ago that did buy us some time. But she got pneumonia and lost her PT job, and I wound up with a scratched esophagus and severe depression/anxiety issues that left me unable to work. Didn't help that the management had been charging us for fees that they aren't legally allowed to... But that's irrelevant now. Now we are focusing on trying to find a new place to live.

We had tried applying for HUD housing, but because of our previous rental situation with our toxic landlord, we were denied. We stayed in a hotel for about two weeks after the eviction, but coudn't afford to keep racking up the debt. My boyfriend was generous enough to let us use his credit card to cover the bill, and we are currently staying with him and his family. However, now he has to carry our financial burden, which is not fair to him.

Thankfully, we have found someone who may be willing to rent to us. The place is ready and waiting, but we can't do anything until we have our bills squared away with Uhaul. We SHOULD be receiving assistance with first month's rent/deposit, so I'm not currently factoring that into what we're asking for (though this may change, depending). Again, it's a waiting game, and our new landlord is unfortunately getting impatient.

I gave this campaign a pretty big push in the beginning, and we were able to do pretty well in raising roughly half of what we needed. Unforutnately, most of the money we raised went toward getting our possessions OUT of the apartment: renting Uhaul (several days), paying movers (also several days), and stuff like gas, food, etc. The whole experience has been very exhausting, so I haven't been able to keep up with updating as much, and we're still in a pretty tight bind.

I had to update the amount from what we originally asked for to reflect the cost of the hotel, putting our stuff in storage, a Uhaul truck rental, etc. Thankfully we were able to pay the movers, but there's still a lot left over. Here's a rough breakdown of things we still need to cover:

-UHaul truck bill
-Storage costs for February
-Hotel costs (because my boyfriend shouldn't have to shoulder this burden)
-Incidentals (food, gas, GoFundMe fees...)

Any help that can be provided is greatly appreciated. And we are eternally grateful for all the help we have received so far. I can't offer much in return, except to promise that we will pay it forward when we are back on our feet again. Thank you for your time and generosity.
