Insulin Pumps for Victor & Keaton

Donation protected
Our friend, Vickie, has a daughter, Keaton, who’s been dealing with juvenile diabetes for several years. As her family’s sole provider, it’s been a serious challenge financially, but she’s a hard worker with a good job and insurance and has been making it work. Sadly, Vickie has just learned that her son, Victor, also suffers from juvenile diabetes, and will need all the care and equipment that Keaton has needed these past years to deal with this disease. We’d like to ask your assistance for Vickie, Victor & Keaton, to help cover some of the growing costs that come with having two kids living with this disease, specifically the cost of the pumps that they both need to monitor and administer insulin to keep their levels safe and healthy.

The insulin pumps that Victor & Keaton both need cost $9,400 each. Insurance covers some of this, but her plan has a $5000 deductible and there are costly related supplies needed each month (infusion sites, reservoirs, sensors, etc.). Keaton has an older pump that she’s used for about 6 years, and is near the end of its life, so she needs a replacement. Since Victor was just diagnosed, he’ll need his pump very soon.

As anyone who’s met them will tell you, Victor & Keaton are great kids, excellent students, are past members of the Union marching band, and have bright futures ahead of them.

Juvenile diabetes, also known as type 1 diabetes, “is a serious autoimmune disease where the pancreas stops producing insulin—which allows the body to get energy from food. It strikes suddenly—and it’s not related to lifestyle or diet. There’s no way to prevent this disease and, as of now, there is no cure.” Unless a cure is found, Victor & Keaton will be dealing with this disease, day in and day out, for the rest of their lives.

100% of the funds raised will be used for their medical care. Thank you in advance for your support.
