Inner City Youth Study in Iceland!

We are high school students from a New York City public school in Queens, and we have this extraordinary opportunity to travel throughout Iceland this summer and earn college credits in science while doing so!  This July, ten Queens School of Inquiry juniors hope to raise enough money to camp outside and study the volcanoes, glaciers, soils, igneous rocks and biogeography of Iceland.  We'll also be learning about remote sensing, satellite imagery and renewable energy.  We will use what we learn in Iceland to raise awareness about enviornmental issues and climate change at home. 

Every penny counts to transform our lives!

In order to go this summer, we need to raise funds to cover the cost of our plane tickets and our accommodations.  We plan to cook most of our own meals to keep costs down, but our trip will still cost us $4,000 per student.  Most of us have never been out of the country before and this experience will be life-changing for all of us.
