The Indy Ceili Band goes to Ireland

Formed in 2009, the Indianapolis Ceili (pronounced “Kay-lee”) band has been performing for over 7 years in the central Indiana area. The band plays concerts, weddings, Ceilis (which are dance/music parties), and festivals. Many of the musicians can be found sitting in on one of the 4 local Irish sessions or playing in one of the many professional Irish/folk bands around the city. Comprised of some of the best musicians in the area, the band member's love and dedication to Traditional Irish music has opened many extraordinary opportunities.
On Saturday, May 7th, 2016, the band competed at the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil (pronounced "Flah Key-ohl") or Irish Music Festival, in Cincinnati, OH, and qualified to compete in the international competition Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland . The band won the competition in 2015, but this will be their first trip, as a band, to Ireland.
The band, which is comprised of 10 members, will be traveling to Ireland the week of August 15th – 21st, to compete at the week-long festival, which draws crowds estimated at up to 60,000 people. The Senior Ceili Band competition is the last event of the festival, and considered the "must see" event for all attendees.
As you can imagine, it will take a considerable effort, both logistically and financially, to transport and lodge a group of that size.
Please consider donating to the Indianapolis Ceili Band and helping us represent you and the city of Indianapolis at this international event. We hope to bring with us the support of our extended music-loving family, and will bring back stories and tunes to share.
