In Support of Brian Mance and Family

Brian and his family had just spent July 4th, 2016 in his hometown with family and friends, but little did they know that their lives were about to change. On their drive home, what Brian thought was just a severe headache and sore neck turned in to a life changing diagnosis! The pain became so severe, that they decided to go the the ER. By the time they arrived, Brian couldn’t walk in on his own. After days of waiting for a diagnosis and the consult of more than seven doctors, it was determined that Brian has neurosarcoidosis, a rare autoimmune disorder. It was because of this disorder that he lost mobility in his arms and legs. While he has made huge strides in regaining some movement, Brian still requires 24 hour care and has been confined to a hospital bed in his home or wheelchair(only with assistance). Just for Brian to leave the house, he has to be assisted into his chair and a special van is required to transport him. So right now, unless they rent a van, Brian only gets out for his Dr. appointments. Because they have to rely on others for this transport, there are so many logistics for Torrun to work out. Unfortunately, because of the lack of availability of vans, Brian sometimes misses those appointments. For what could be a quick morning Dr. appointment, it can take days of preparation. Brian has recently hit some huge milestones regarding his mobility and is very motivated to push himself even harder. In order for him to continue to make significant progress, he needs more intense physical therapy. The best facilities are anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour from his home. A handicap accessible van would make this an attainable goal for Brian. While the physical needs and restraints have taken a toll on Brian, it has also been extremely difficult for Torrun, his wife. She has had to wear many hats throughout the process, and has done it with the utmost faith and grace. The thing that she and Brian miss the most is enjoying everyday things as a family. Things the rest of us take for granted! Like picking up their son, Jaden, from school, or attending church as a family! Now that Jaden is old enough to play sports, Brian wants to be able to watch practices and attend games. While life will still be challenging, a van would absolutely give Brian, Torrun, and Jaden the chance to enjoy everyday life TOGETHER! Brian and Torrun have both shown unwavering faith and trust in God through this whole process. Please prayerfully consider giving to this precious family so they may purchase a van to make their lives easier, and help Brian continue to make progress on this journey.
