I’m at an exciting crossroads, both personally and creatively. I’m 43 years old, sober for over four years, newly single, about to be homeless, and completely unanchored. Rather than sinking into despair, and in keeping true to my aesthetic philosophy, I’ve decided to see this as an opportunity for adventure, exploration, volunteerism, and artmaking. It’s time to leave Kansas City, my household, and my comfort zone, and venture out into the great unknown. So, in early May, I will strike out alone on the open road … making a full-bodied leap of faith, trusting my fate, and continuing my lifelong search for truth and beauty. Your support can help me go explore America’s landscapes, reveal its hidden splendors, befriend and help its people, and seek out moments of grace in the most unexpected of places.

I’d like for you to travel alongside me, every step of the way … together we can witness extraordinary events, meet fascinating characters, help those in need, and treasure the glories of the everyday. Towards that purpose, I intend to document my experiences, writing and videotaping and photographing as I wander at will over this marvelous continent. I will share my findings, much in the same way I did during my journeys through India and Puerto Rico.
