My name is Kyle and this is my story. I am a twenty-five year old Colorado Native who has earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and works full-time at Lockheed Martin. I grew up enjoying all the outdoor activities you can do in this beautiful state and have worked hard to keep those pleasures alive in my life, however it has become progressively more challenging over time. At the age of 8, I was diagnosed with an acute kidney disease called Alports Syndrome. In short, it is a non curable disease in which kidney functionality diminishes over time resulting in total kidney failure. I am currently at 13% kidney functionality which has been accompanied by less than exciting side effects, including severe fatigue, insomnia, loss of appetite, and loss of mental sharpness.

Thanks to my ongoing healthy lifestyle I have been qualified by many doctors to be placed on the transplant list. Due to my blood type, type O, I am on a six year waiting list to receive a transplant. As in most health related cases, I am surrounded by family and friends who are very supportive through this tough journey. Unfortunately, none of them are a match or simply can not donate due to other complications. Thus I am reaching out to find anyone who is interested in learning more about making a life-changing difference and becoming a potential donor. The next steps involve finding out one’s blood type and if one is a potential match- tests are provided at no cost to the potential donor. Please see this website for info.

The search for a kidney has been a success!
On January 2nd, I received a phone call informing me of my surgery date for my transplant!

Assuming everything continues forward, I should expect the new kidney near the end of this February!

Thank you all for your help in finding me a donor. Most importantly, thank you to the many individuals who stepped forward and began to go through testing to become a donor for myself.

While undergoing this surgery is truly a blessing for me and my family, a long term financial obligation will be incurred. For those of you who have already donated, reposted, and contacted me about becoming a donor, I greatly appreciate it and every bit helps!

Please share this post to get the word out one last time!

Thank you all for your support!

Many have asked what the money donated will be used for. While finding a kidney donor is the primary goal, all monetary donations will be used to cover medical expenses.

There are a lot of medical expenses that will exceed insurance and end up being out of pocket. A few of these costs include:

- deductibles for myself and the donor
- prescription costs (expensive anti-rejection prescription that must be taken every day forever post surgery)
- post operation recovery costs for the donor

Thus, due to the financial burden on me to cover the costs associated with the transplant process, any monetary donations will greatly aid in making the transplant process possible!

Thank you all for your continuous support!

Living Kidney Donors
Do not have to be blood related – talk to family and friends

Must undergo extensive evaluation to determine candidacy

Out of state donors can have testing done through their local doctors

Must be ideal body weight and free from chronic illnesses, such as high blood pressure and diabetes

Do not have to pay for testing and surgery. (These are cover by the recipients insurance). Travel and lodging is not covered

Important to remember.
The donor team does not discuss information about donors with the kidney recipient due to confidentiality requirements – encourage your donors to communicate with you directly

The donor team will make 3 attempts to contact donors for follow up. If there is not response, the donor is considered no longer interested in donation.
