In Memory of Rachael Yager Tuma

Rachael R. Tuma was a wife and mother of 4 beautiful children. An activist. A fighter. A lover of her family and special causes. She was a force to behold, and she will be missed forever. After being diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer in early 2017, Rachael passed away December 19, 2018 – only 20 short months after learning of her disease.
What Rachael leaves behind is a family that loved her as fiercely as she loved them - husband, Andrew, and children Brennan (15), Shannon (13), Aine (10), and Teagan (7). The hole she leaves behind in their hearts is unbearable at times, yet the family continues to band together and fight for their future – as that’s what Rachael would have wanted.
Those that know the Tuma family have been asking how to help. And, while it is difficult for them to accept support, “Team Tuma” knows there is real need including financial needs. So, we are opening this page to those that wish to contribute financially.
If you donate to this page, the funds will go directly to Andrew Tuma and his children, to cover the following costs:
Funeral and burial expenses.
Because Rachael’s brain tumor was originally discovered (benign) at 21 years of age, she was never able to secure life insurance, as her tumor was considered a pre-existing condition. Funds donated here will primarily support funeral and burial expenses, which are substantial.
Supplementing needs at home.
Although Rachael’s primary role was taking care of the home and children, the gap she leaves behind in supporting the caregiving of the family’s four children will require additional funds in the near-term, as Andrew will maintain his full-time position at Caterpillar.
Children’s future.
Any remaining funds from this account will be saved for the children’s future aspirations & education.
