In memory of Peter Gaughen

The world lost an amazing man this week! My Dad, Peter Gaughen was 65 years old and suffered a major heart attack while working that morning. He was found un responsive by a customer who immediately called 911. Paramedics raced to his aid and performed CPR. He was rushed to Grossmont hospital where he was placed on life support. After many tests it was found that he had no brain activity due to lack of oxygen to the brain at the time of the heart attack. My family and I had to make some very difficult decisions and sadly he passed away at 10:16 on Friday January 18, 2019.

My Dad was a wonderful, caring and thoughtful person. He had a way with people and everyone he met loved him! My Dad was such a hard worker. The man only took off work 2 day a year and that was Christmas Day and my Birthday. Peter was a Police officer back in the day. He left the SDPD to build and pursue his business more. Dad does not get a retirement off of his PD career like many people think he does. What many people also do not know is that running your own business does not make you rich and comes with many challenges! Dad struggled to make ends meet for many years but he was such a prideful person he never wanted to ask for help. He never wanted to make my mom or I worry about him, finances, or life. Unfortunately some business decisions were made that my mom has just recently found out about that now are affecting our family and will effect her ability to grieve properly and move forward. It breaks my heart that my dad wanted so badly for us to never worry, yet clearly was under so much stress and pressure with the business and life. I wish he would have talked to us and we could have come up with a plan as a family so he wasn't left with so much burdened on a daily basis.

My Parents are both incredible people. They both are so loving, caring and thoughtful people. They are always helping others in their time of need even if at that time they didn't have a lot of extra money!  The death of my Dad is so heartbreaking to us and so unexpected. My mom is also a very prideful person and would never ask for help on her own. So as her Daughter, I am asking if there is any way for people to donate to help my mom through this very devastating time. My mom has a very tough road ahead of her and she is going to need support and love and doesn't deserve to worry.  She will unfortunately be having to move in with me and possibly my brother in Idaho until she can get back on her feet.  I don't want her to worry or struggle. She is to nice of a person for that.

Dad use to always be against cremation and wanted to be buried. Over the last couple years he started to change his out look on what to do when the end came. He said he's been starting to like the idea of cremation because it means he can stay close to my Mom and I. If we move he goes with us he said and isn't left behind lol. Thats the type of husband and father Peter was! He loved us so much.

Dad passed away at 22:16 (10:16pm) in police code a 1016 is suspect in custody. That was our sign that he was officially in "custody" of jesus!

Please consider donating. Any amount helps. The funds will go toward giving my dad the service he deserves, and helping my mom get through this very difficult time.

Thank You and God bless all of you.
