In memory of Leslie Kelly-Vanoni

Hi everyone-
A dear friend of mine, who I met through my cancer Journey, passed away last month from Metastatic breast cancer. When I was diagnosed in 2015 Leslie reached out to me asking if I would be willing to be part of her daughters senior project which was a fashion show raising awareness for breast cancer. Unfortunately, I never received the message until 6 months later.  Little did I know Leslie and I  were receiving treatment and would be indefinitley at the same cancer center in Marin.   She was a fighter that never gave up.  Leslie  was a beautiful, kind hearted woman who was always there for me and others. She supported and helped guide me through my journey, while facing her own mortality on a daily basis.   Leslie leaves behind  two beautiful twin girls, Mia and Bridget who she loved with all her heart.   I am setting up this gofund me account and asking anyone who can donate and share this post in hopes of raising money so Mia and Bridget don't have to stress about medical bills, funeral cost, and college aspects after losing their mother.

When our mom was first diagnosed with breast cancer, we were only 4 years old. Not old enough to truly understand the severity of cancer or to understand what our mom had to deal with throughout the years to come. When we were 13, she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. At this age, we were able to understand more clearly as we were told that we could lose our mom at any moment if things got bad. However, things never seemed to get so bad to the point that we ever even thought to stop believing in her. When things got difficult for her, she never backed down and stood up to any and all obstacles that were in her way. She was the strongest person to ever live and she fought long and hard against cancer all while maintaining her sobriety, climbing to the top of mountains, raising money for the breast cancer fund, working full time at Autodesk, and rebuilding her relationship with us. And she did it all with grace and beauty and a big smile on her face. Yes, she had bad days and often times she thought about giving up, but she kept going and she never stopped fighting. On February 26, 2019, our beautiful and courageous mother passed away surrounded by her loved ones. She still never gave up. She fought with everything she had until she no longer could and she did it all for the both of us. Everything our mom ever did was for her daughters. We are so grateful for the time that we spent with her as well as the time that she spent with others who were able to see exactly the kind of beauty that lied within her heart.
Our goal is to raise money on behalf of our mother, who worked her butt off to provide for her kids while dealing with metastatic cancer. Who climbed Mount Shasta to raise money to help others against their fight with breast cancer. Who took on a leadership role in her community to help others to overcome addiction. All while fighting for her own life. We want to give back to our mom and the community.
