In Memoriam Pastor Dan Thompson

Donation protected
Faithful friend, loving leader, wise and winsome, gracious and gallant, kind and corny  -- these are some of the words used to describe Pastor Dan Thompson as his friends and family remember what made him beloved by so many.  Mr. Thompson’s fight with cancer ended on February 23, and he was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior.  He leaves behind a legacy that extends past his family and friends to the many adults he counseled and the many students he taught and mentored.  After serving his country, he spent his years on this earth serving his Lord faithfully as a pastor, missionary, and teacher.   He poured out his time, energy, and resources as a shepherd – joyfully loving, protecting, correcting, and serving those God brought to his flock.  Most recently, Mr. Thompson, or Grandpa Thompson as he was fondly dubbed by many, taught history and worldview classes at Artios Academies of Sugar Hill.  He was also on staff at Sugar Hill Church where his ministry was cut short by his battle with cancer.

His partner in ministry and life, his beautiful wife Jackie, will continue to serve in his stead along with his daughters and sons-in-law, Danielle and Kevin Sterner, Summer and Jason Sterner, and Windy and John Lane, and his grandchildren, Jessie and Chris Legg, Jack Sterner, Justin Sterner, James Sterner, Isaac Sterner, Madelyn Sterner, Micah Sterner, Moses Sterner, Riley Lane, and Reagan Lane.

While God has always generously provided through Dan for the Thompson family, ministry positions have not allowed for end of life expenses, medical expenses, or retirement savings, so this Go Fund Me will help Jackie with funeral and travel expenses and assist her in her time of need.  He will be buried in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, and the family is planning a memorial service for Tuesday, March 7 at Sugar Hill Church.  Thank you in advance for showing Jackie and all of the Thompson family the love unique to the bride of Christ.
