IN LOVING MEMORY OF ROYA ARIEL MENAFI

Hi, we are the Menafi family; mother, father, and four kids; Cyrus, Roya, Bijan and Kian. Roya was born on February 1st, 2006 with multiple heart defect. At the age of nine days old, Roya had her first open heart surgery. Doctors said it was a miracle that she survived. When she was 18 months old; she had her second open heart surgery where she had a pacemaker installed to help her underline rhythm. She had another open-heart surgery when she was eight years old to change the previous pacemaker and the same change occurred again last year July 2018.
Despite having all these surgeries, Roya lived life like a normal child. On July 16, 2019, Roya fell sick again. We thought this was one of the many issues she goes through with her heart. A few days after Roya was admitted to CHEO (Children Hospital of Eastern Ontario). We were shocked to find out Roya had early T cell acute lymphocytic lymphoma cancer (Leukemia to be exact.)
Roya started chemotherapy on July 25th 2019, to help treat the cancer; however; things took a turn for the worse. The medication ultimately placed her in critically condition where she was fighting for her life. Roya only did Chemo for two weeks before doctors told us she has days to live. However, as the fighter she was; she beat the odds until August 29th, 2019.
Roya battled, and fought her way against cancer. She gave her best fight. She was a bright butterfly that everyone loved. She was brave, strong, witty and intelligent. One thing we knew for sure was, she wouldn’t go anywhere without her Dora. She was so full of life with lots of energy that you wouldn’t even know she was sick. Roya took her last breath on the surface of the earth on August 29th, 2019 at 12:20pm. Her soul went home. Roya is now Free from all her pain and suffering.
