In Honor of Jack Ruder

Tax deductible
Over $30,000 has already been raised to support research at the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation in Honor of Jack Ruder from the original campaign .

This new campaign was set up as a Certified Charity campaign, to allow donations to go directly to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (also known as NARSAD: National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia & Depression). This makes future donations tax deductible.

We thank you all so much for your generosity— please know that this fund will always be open should you feel yourself missing Jack in the coming months. It is a great way to remind us that Jack, although no longer with us, is still alive through inspiring us to help others.

Additional gifts as part of this Charity Campaign will also be added to the Jack Ruder Memorial Fund, so that there will be a consolidated record of everyone's generosity.

For those of you new to the page, here is Jack's story:
"On June 18th, 2017 John Robert Ruder passed away. He was an incredibly driven and intelligent individual, as well as a loving son and brother. We are devastated beyond words by such a loss. He loved to play basketball on the Saint Francis High School Varsity team, and continued on with intramural basketball at Cal Poly San Louis Obispo. He was so entreprenuerial: starting and monetizing a YouTube channel that grew to over 600,000 subscribers, and pursued business start-up ventures in his free time. We know he touched the lives of many while he was here with us, whether it be his friends, business partners, or his family who loves him so much.

For those of you who did not know what he was struggling with, Jack was very sick. It was too soon to have an exact diagnosis but he was experiencing bipolar and schizophrenic symptoms, and in the end was not able to persevere through his suffering. Our family wants to tell his story because all too often stories like his go unspoken, creating stigma around an illness where endless amounts of support are needed. Within the medical realm today a cure does not exist for such an illness, but one can learn to survive and even thrive in life with the right medication and therapy. We hope that in Jack's passing we might be able to honor him by doing anything we can to provide assistance in bettering the available treatments. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to this fund in Jack's name— 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation (also known as NARSAD: National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia & Depression).
