Cancer Survivor Robert Di Massa of Venice CA, has start a 1,000,000 Push Up Challenge benefiting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
He started training on January 1st doing a few push ups a day until he reached a daily goal of 3330 a day, to date he has done over 300,000.
Every Second Counts, I’m Pushing for CHLA. is the name of the fundraiser.
He came up with the title because he is on a second clock for 5 hours a day, every 4 mins is another set of 50 push ups for 66 sets, no time off.
This is a meditation and not a physical challenge for Robert, he has to be focused while doing the push ups, he thinks about healing and helping ANYONE.
Robert start on April 20th 2017 a 365 day fundraiser doing 3330 push ups each day until his 50th Birthday April 19th 2018.
His goal is to raise $1 per Push Up over $1,000,000 in 365 days.
In 2006 Robert was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and had 12 months of Chemo Therapy, 12 months of push ups is symbolic to the 12 months he battled his cancer.
He is on a mission for humanity and not a single person, Over the holidays Robert heard a message over and over on TV, CHLA Spokesperson, Drew Barrymore said “If you live LA, Give LA”.
Drew Barrymore is Robert’s hero, she gave her time and help Inspire him to help benefit The Cancer and Blood Disease Center at CHLA.
Robert has a goal to push for humanity, he has something to give LA, his time, energy love for the City his was born- Los Angeles.
A quote from Robert, "If I had a checkbook I could just make a donation, that would be much easier then doing over one million push ups on my knuckles for a year".
Robert has something worth more the any dollar amount, his spirt, by giving his time and sharing hope with all of Los Angeles and the World he can reach more people then a donation could.
Each day Robert is doing 5 hours of push ups around Venice Beach where he lives, and wants to start showing up at locations all around Los Angeles throughout the next year.
Robert is also asking anyone, any day to Challenge him to his 3330 push ups in 5 hours to fundraise, This will be exciting for everyone to watch on social media.
Robert was very moved by Jimmy Kimmel's story about his newborn son, Little Billy Kimmel's heart defect and how CHLA was so amazing.
Robert would like to Keeping Pushing For CHLA and Billy Kimmel, 2 more days past his Finish line date of April 19th to April 21st Little Billy Kimmel’s 1 year Birthday.
Those 2 days Everyone can help Fundraise for the Heart Center at CHLA, Robert would be honored to postpone his goal date to help celebrate the gift of Life.
