Imogen Rose Ellis was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer (with only 2 in 1million people being diagnosed) in her right knee in November 2016. She underwent 6 lots of aggressive chemotherapy only then to be told the devastating news in April 2017 that due to the positioning of the tumours she had to have her leg amputated just above the knee, she then went on to have another 4 sessions of aggressive chemotherapy.
In October 2017 we were to be told that Imogen’s chemotherapy hadn’t been successful and was now terminal, with 12 months to live.
In that 12 months, Imogen lived her life to the absolute fullest. She went on 4 amazing holidays, partied every weekend, did a skydive and said yes to the dress (wedding dress) and just lived her remaining life to the max, she 'lived for today'
Throughout it all she maintained the most incredible, positive attitude, inspiring others with her strength, determination and huge infectious smile. Imogen certainly lived up to her quote 'live for today'
Heartbreakingly Imogen lost her battle and passed away on the 3rd October 2018
It was 'Imogen's Dream' to help other families to have family time and make memories to cherish just like she did so we are wanting to fundraise as much as possible to eventually help families to go on holidays and escape reality even for just a short while.
We are doing a Sponsored Walk on June 29th from Rother Valley back to Hollingwood Pub. Its approx 8 miles and runs straight down the side of the Chesterfield Canal so this time more or less nice and flat. We are also doing a mini one from Staveley (Morrisons) for everyone who wants to do it with small children. One thing we promised Imogen Ellis, was to fundraise for her charity so her name would live on as she wanted more than anything to help other families who have also had the misfortune of this vile disease to create memories that they can hold onto.
We would love it if we could get a similar turn out as last time which was a mind blowing turn out. If you fancy having fun while raising money will you please send me a email and I will forward you a sponsor form.
