I'm Jen.

As everyone (or most of you) probably know, Charlotte and I just recently got engaged. Apparantly, I am crazy enough to get married to a Belgian - I obviously couldnt' resist her accent -  but unfortunately I'm not wealthy enough to marry a Belgian. 

We started looking into the process of legalizing things in terms of immigration and are trying to start up this complicated and vigorous process; this includes legal advice and paying some fees. Unfortunately this is super expensive and very hard for us to gather in such a short amount of time.

The total amount - including the fees, medical exam, and the legal advice - would be $4,700, but within the next month (Dec. 23 to be exact) the first deposit and the fees ($2,200) need to be paid. It is nearly impossible for us to get this amount of money together in such a short amount of time and we were hoping to get some help from our friends and family.

This is obviously not something we like to ask for, but desperate times call for desperate measures, and every little bit helps. We can't promise to pay all of it back soon, but we could work something out.

This marriage means the world to us, and we are both excited to get married and spend the rest of our lives together. This legal process is unfortunately a bridge we need to cross.

Any help would be very much appreciated and would mean so much to us. It would give us the means to keep our family together.

We also want to thank everyone for the support we have received in the past years, including emotional support. No matter what happens, we are very thankful for everyone in our lives and for all the love we receive.
