My name is Blair Chandley. Have you ever had a story pull your heartstrings so hard you just had to help? I have. I would like to tell you a story about my sister.
My sister, Brooke Beilin Lobdell, who is 37 years young has been plagued her whole life with health problems. She developed an auto-immune disease called Scleroderma when she was in college and it has progressed and ruined her lungs. She was given A YEAR TO TWO YEARS TO LIVE by her pulmonologist, over a year ago, and was told she needed a double lung transplant.
Brooke went through a roller-coaster of a ride just to get on the list and is still waiting. This terrible disease affected her teeth and she didn’t have the money to get them fixed so she had to have them all pulled and now has dentures (at the age of 37). Her husband no longer works since she needs constant attention and can’t perform the everyday duties that you and I can, like going to the bathroom and taking a shower.
Brooke and her husband had to leave their home in New Jersey and move to Pittsburg to undergo this massive procedure of a double lung transplant. The WORST PART is that they had to leave their 6 year old son with his grandparents because there has not been enough money. The very little money they do have is going to medications and all the other stuff that does not get covered by insurance.
Brooke has been on oxygen 24/7 for a couple of years now but just recently she has gotten much worse. So much that she is now on a VENTILATOR that is doing the breathing for her. She is now stuck in a hospital until she gets these lungs and before this her quality of life was awful. It saddens me to see my sister who I remember as so independent is so helpless.
Five dollars, ten dollars, twenty dollars– If you can help me raise the funds to help my sister and her family so she can get her new set of lungs, I would be forever grateful.
