The United States is a nation of immigrants. But even history aside, in a global world the free flow of resources, including those of ideas and people, are not simply beneficial to economics and society. It’s vital. Diversity breeds inclusion, and inclusion leads to acceptance and innovation. Thinking differently is what makes America powerful and prosperous.
Halting or even restricting immigration by the government hurts our economy and weakens our future. Doing so under the guise of national security creates fear and isolation in our society. We have to be open and fair, and help those who come to us in need. Especially those who give up everything they knew for the hope of a better life and future.
We’ve selected the ACLU to support, because they’re equipped to fight for this issue in the legal arena. Immigration policies need to be vetted against our most fundamental human decency to ensure that we remain a fair and open society.
