Climate change is a reality. In addition to the overwhelming scientific consensus, it’s ludicrous to think that 7 billion people living on the planet doesn’t affect it. And the effects of climate change doesn’t affect us: it’ll affect our children, and our children’s children. What we do today is our legacy. But it will, quite simply, become their reality. They will have to live it and suffer the consequences of our actions. Politics can try and silence science. Reality won’t change.
Even if politicians interpret facts differently, and argue about the course of action — they have to set a course of action. And it’ll be up to scientists, experts outside political parties or ideologies, to offer them options. Experts like those at the NRDC, our chosen charity combating climate change.
We’ve chosen the NRDC because of their comprehensive palette of actions. Climate change affects everything, and everything affects climate change. We need to stand up against the Dakota and Keystone XL pipelines, industrial pollution, and irresponsible wasting of our natural resources.
