Fund for Martina Jones

Donation protected
Update May 2019:

By now we know the sad news has been shared widely but we wanted to update the site and say one last thank you to all those who generously donated to give us hope, provide options and create lasting memories for Martina and her family. This includes those who knew Martina and those who didn't.

Martina passed away on the 30th April 2019. Even in those last few days the fund gave us options as we sought a private referral to the Royal Marsden to help extend her life.

The remaining fund will be used as Martina had wished - to provide support to Emlyn, Lena and the girls to ease the pressures of  life without her. For those wishing to donate the site will remain open until the end of June.

On behalf of Martina's family and friends, our deepest thanks.

Note: Understanding that some of you may have donated money for Martina directly we are happy to refund any original donations.

Update January 2019:

Going public on something so personal was never going to be easy. Whilst we expect the reality of our situation to deeply effect those closest to us, the extent of the overwhelming support shown to us has at times taken our breath away.

We want to thank everyone who has donated. Some of you we know personally whilst others are generous strangers who have simply been touched by our story. The world is full of wonderful people and your contribution no matter how big or small will make a difference.

Already your money has paid for access to a private consultant and as a result some important tests. The consultant confirmed the current chemotherapy to be the right course of action for today and has advised on the use of two specific drugs post chemo depending on the progression of the cancer. Other treatment options were discussed and whilst there are no appropriate trials at the moment the consultant has provided some valuable information regarding possible future options. The private appointments not only provide access to a profound level of knowledge, but also a connection to top cancer specialists and trials, all of which are invaluable.

Thank you for making it possible.

Original Post:

Martina was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in January 2017 when she was four months pregnant. The months that followed were ironically full of joy... the arrival of Lena, a surprise proposal from Emlyn and the girls, and a wonderful wedding but in September 2018 Martina shared the heartbreaking news "it’s back" she said - "the cancer just loves me".

Sadly this time the difficult news packed an extra punch - "it’s incurable..." she said. It takes sometime to digest that. Incurable “like diabetes right? You can just live with it, right?” But as time has passed the reality has sunk in that our beautiful Mart has terminal cancer.

So our job and the purpose of this page is to keep her here, happy and healthy for a long as possible. To make non-NHS funded life extending treatment possible, to make life a little easier and make every memory possible.

Please give what you can or raise* what you can. Our target looks huge but we know we can meet it with your help and support.

Lots of love
Mart's Family and Friends

*Please get in touch if you’re participating in a run or challenge event, selling cakes, doing fancy dress or anything else that can contribute to our total. We can add individual fundraising to this page.
