Help Jim Varney Kick Cancer's Ass!

Born and raised, Jim Varney has been a resident of Alton for the past 55 years. He went to Alton High School and has worked in Alton all of his life. Many of you probably know him as being genuine, kindhearted, hardworking, a gifted conversationalist, and the guy who will always have a story or a (sometimes inappropriate) joke to tell you. He is an all around great guy, and he would do anything for anyone.
As many of you may or may not know, my dad was diagnosed with cancer in late July of this year. Unfortunately, the cancer was not detected early. He recently had surgery and is awaiting news as to whether or not the cancer has metastasized to anywhere else in his body. While he recovers and regains his strength, his surgery has left him with temporarily limited mobility and he is unable to work for the next three months. In the months leading up to his surgery, my dad worked 60 days straight in order to support our family during this time. After a great deal of essential and extensive testing and procedures not covered by his insurance, he has accrued thousands of dollars in medical bills. This, combined with being unable to work for three months, has left him in a difficult financial position.
My dad has no idea that I made this page, but I have taken it upon myself to reach out to the community that he has lived in his whole life, and to anyone who would like to help support my dad through this bump in the road. Please feel free to share this with those you know who have been lucky enough to share a laugh with Jim over the years.

My family and I thank all of you who have sent good thoughts and energy to my dad. Life throws you curve balls, like cancer. We feel well supported as we go through this journey alongside my dad, because he is the most amazing man in our lives. To know him is to love him, that is all there is to it.
