Todd's Stem Cell Transplant

In Feb. 2012, at the age of 37, Todd was diagnosed with a form of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma called Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.  Typically, many individuals who share this diagnosis are able to live symptom free for the remainder of their life-time which is an estimated 10-30 years from diagnosis.  However, Todd has a rare, ultra high-risk form which he has already surpassed the  1-2 year life expentency for but, he is still very sick and time is of the essence.  He is on very strong medications to help control his Leukemia and, suffers everyday from the side effects.  His specialist has informed us that unless he receives a bone marrow or stem cell transplant ASAP his cancer will continue to grow worse and, his time is limited.  Todd has two small children: Kylie -5 and, Dominick, 3...we want so very much to be able to grow old together and, for Todd to be able to be an active part of his children's lives.  Once Todd begins the transplant process he will not be able to return to work for approximately 12 months.  With a home, two children and, Todd being in Boston undergoing his transplant for months, there will be increased costs of travel and, the majority of the financial burden will be falling on me (his wife) as he & I will be unable to work for an extended period of time. At first, I was thinking of taking a week off work but, after learning more about the process, it's going to need to be a more substanstial amount of time. We have held off long enough hoping for a miracle but, we must face that the time has come.  We pray that Todd will survive his transplant and, be able to live a cancer- free life, to share in the lives of his children, family, and friends for many years to come.   We thank you!
