Help Sylvia complete her Education

Hello, my name is Sylvia Arias and I am currently in my junior year of college at Youngstown State University(YSU). My major is General Studies with concentrations in Education and Linguistics. Upon completion of my bachelors, I would like to pursue a career in education, specifically, as an ESL teacher. Coming from Puerto Rico and having once been an ESL student myself, I believe I would be in a better position to help this student group. While English is by no means a measure of intelligence, it is by all means a big constituent of globalization, specifically, in the aspects of communication, and education in this context. Being part of the team working to close the academic achievement gap that exists between ESL students and their counterparts, will give ESL students a competitive advantage to survive in this age and time. A career in this field is a life long dream for me. However, I am currently facing financial challenges having exhausted most of the viable options that I have to see me through my education. Specifically, I am in need of class materials, and my last semester tuition fee, which I have to pay out of pocket. These expenses are affecting me psychologically and I would hate for this to trickle down to my academic achievement or force me to halt my pursuit for education. I am aware that this is a lot to ask from not just the people who don’t know me but, also to those who know me. I can’t promise anything in return for your help today. But, I will always remember for as long as my memory serves, not to forget the kindness that will be shown to me today. In the end, I hope I will get an opportunity in the future to take an even greater leap of faith for someone, in a situation of need.
