One Million Steps for Refugees

I WILL MARCH FROM PARIS TO BERLIN - SEPTEMBER 23 TO OCTOBER 13 - WILL YOU MARCH WITH ME?
Dear Friends,
We are in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. According to the United Nations Refugee Agency , "an unprecedented 68.5 million people around the world have been forced from their homes. Among them are nearly 25.4 million refugees, over half of whom are under the age of 18."
Many of these refugees fled to Europe, most notably in the summer of 2015 . The crisis is far from over and personally, I am tired of being a passive observer. I am ashamed to see how we treat each other. I am sad to see the rise of populism and hate speech and I am angry with myself for not doing more to protect the weak and the vulnerable. I am not a politician but I am a human being with a voice and legs.
WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS EMPATHY. IF WE EMPATHISE WITH EACH OTHER THEN WE CAN SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS!
That's why I will march from Paris to Berlin - nearly 1.3 Million steps - each step representing 50 refugees (or people fleeing their homes). I am not a professional runner so I am counting on your support to help me march this distance. We need to show the world that we care about one another, and that we do not tolerate hate and what better way to show this than to march in peace across Central Europe?
I will start to march - PEACEFULLY - from the Arc de Triomphe in Paris on September 23 at 10:20AM, arriving in Berlin at the Brandenburg Gate at 10:20AM on October 13. The distance equals 28 Marathons (in 20 Days). I will march through many cities and hope you join me along the way! You can also get involved via Social Media (Hashtag #IMARCHFORYOU and follow me @GrigRichters).
I will need to pay for certain things. I am planning to march 10-12 hours each day but we will need to get some basic accommodation along the way. I also want to rent a mini van (or a caravan) which will follow us along this journey. It's our Mission control and enables us to stream the march to Millions of people. Maybe we can invite some bands to join us along the way. I also want to use it for promoting our main theme: EMPATHY and put some of the kids' faces on the van to make this project much more personal. I will raise the Gofundme goal to 5,000 if things go well.
