I hike 4 u!

I, Mareike aka CareFree, hike several trails all around the world. Started out of sheer pleasure but turned into wanting to raise awareness for equal rights and to empower and inspire female human beings everywhere to do whatever they want, too. Because we girls have the power to do so. 
Unfortunately not all women are able to live a self-determined life and therefore I hike not only for me and to inspire other females to go outside and enjoy the outdoors, but also to raise a bit of money for SAVE.

SAVE stands for Students Association for Village Education and was founded in 2008 in order to educate kids and people in general who live in the remote area of Changthang, a very rural region in Ladakh (Indian Himalayas). It is a non political and non religious organisation run on donations and voluntary work.
SAVE is organizing various lessons such as English and art lessons, give general and career guidance and also encouraging girls to go to school and their parents to send their girls to school, they plan on organising self-defense courses, will teach about general health and educate and train girls to take over vivid and also leadership positions in their community. 

I myself have been trekking in Ladakh and I was deeply impressed by the strong women in that rough environment. I come to know Dolma, a young woman from that very remote part of Changthang who convinced her parents to send her to school and further more she went to study Education in Chandigarh/India.

Please donate now to help SAVE keep on continuing their work, setting up health programmes, educate kids to become vivid members of their community and to finance scholarships for kids of particular poor families. By now I hiked 4200 km on the Pacific Crest Trail in the US, on the Great Ocean Walk in Australia and these days on the Te Araroa in New Zealand. Let's get together 0,10 EUR for every kilometre I hiked so far to buy school books, learning materials, personal items such as sanitary napkins and help financing the scholarships for  Ladakhi kids. I will be back in Ladakh in June and meet Dolma.
