Need support to go college

Donation protected

My name is Richard Oryem and I would like to thank you for your time.
This open and honest request is from a student, athlete, youth leader and coach.

I have been blessed with the ability to play the game of basketball and have demonstrated this over the last ten
Years at a competitive level with the Dandenong Dolphins, Dandenong Rangers, Bulleen Boomers,
And Men's Youth League championships. I consider one of my most significant achievements representing Melbourne in the
South Sudanese tournament every year since 2012. Earlier this year I was invited to play in Luxembourg.
This opportunity caused me to reflect on my life journey, and the significance of being an Australian citizen.

I am involved with helping young Sudanese children within my community by sharing with them my
Love for basketball. Every week I train and coach two teams of young men, an under sixteens, and under eighteens
With an organisation by the name of the City Kings.
The City Kings under sixteen team recently won the National Championship in the 2017 Sudanese tournament, whilst the under eighteens just missed out on the finals. I also run holiday programs with the objective of keeping young people off the street and preventing them from running into trouble with law enforcement. I truly believe that in order to help the youth in my community we must
Provide them with grass roots inspiration, and an activity that they can love and work hard towards, just like I
Have done with basketball.

I have been invited to numerous basketball colleges in America. I feel
Overwhelmed about the opportunity that has come my way. I found myself crying one night,
As it has always been my dream to be invited to play for a college in America. I never would
Have thought this day would come. I am extremely proud of myself and I want to be an
Example for all kids in my community especially refugee kids to show them that they can get
Far in life if they work hard. I often laugh to myself and think wow this poor Sudanese boy
Has made it in life. I just want my mother who brought me here and my people back in
Sudan to be proud of me.

However, with the numerous offers to play college basketball in America come the associated cost.
My sister and I have been trying to save for this opportunity, however we simply do not have
Enough to cover the tuition fees of $13,000.00 in the required amount of time.
With humility I ask for your support in helping me achieve my dream of studying and playing basketball
At a collegiate level in America. Your financial support, regardless of the amount would be a blessing.
Thank you very much for your time.

Yours sincerely,
Richard Oryem.
