Bob Reed Medical Expenses

The Reed Family history:

The Reed Family is a wonderful family of six, known and loved by many.  In 2007 the youngest child, Paige, was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 4.  The Reed family battled this cancer for over 2 years, traveling back and forth first to Children's Hospital in Boston and then Maine Children’s Cancer Program. During this time their family struggled through without financial assistance. With the grace of God, Paige is now in remission and doing well!

In 2013 the father, Bob, was diagnosed with a low grade bladder cancer, which has recently progressed into an uncommon and aggressive  form of bladder cancer. With this newest diagnosis, they are trying to get into a clinical trial at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, with the support of treatment also at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Augusta, Maine.  They anticipate frequent travel back and forth to Beth Israel Hospital Boston, as well as expenses from co-pays, travel, potential loss of income and other out of pocket expenses.

In true small town spirit, the Reeds have always been a very involved, charitable family.  Always more comfortable giving than receiving, they are always there for people in need.  Bob dedicates his time as a Scout Leader with the Boy Scouts, and finds joy in always creating exciting events for the boys, working to instill values of service and selflessness in the scouts he works with. The Reeds are also a well-known face at local American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life events- walking in the local events, fundraising, and doing their best to raise awareness for families who find themselves in the struggle they are now in themselves.

The Reeds have a daughter in college and three children still at home, with one graduating from high school this year.  Jess Reed is an employee of the American Cancer Society and has worked tirelessly to help others. This family embodies strength and faith, and now find themselves in need of assistance from others. As their close friends, we wanted to start this GoFundMe page to help support them in this unexpected and difficulty journey. We keep telling them that this is one small way we can help them so that we feel less helpless.

No donation is too small and we appreciate any contribution that you are able to make.
