Hytyme's Gravel Paddock Improvement

Tax deductible
Hytyme Equine Rescue is a 501C that focuses on the care of many senior equines. They are permanent residents who will not be adopted out due to their age or health status. We have younger horses in training who are in the process of being adopted out, but many of our residents are permanent fixtures who will live out their lives here, and we try to make them as comfortable and happy as possible.

Here in rainy Oregon, and it has rained A LOT here this last winter and spring, mud can be a problem. The heavy rain fall has devastated our "Patio" areas leading to our horses' shelters, causing them to be muddy quagmires. This is harder on older horses with arthritic joints. It can also cause hoof issues in horses of all ages. We need to order multiple large dump truck loads of gravel during the dry months to correct the problem and add extra drainage in multiple paddocks and "Patio" areas leading to their stalls and shelters. Unfortunately most of our funding goes into feed and regular care with little to spare for these sorts of improvements.

As barn coordinator I would love to be able to order the dump trucks full of gravel to improve our paddock entries and "Patios" this summer when it is the ideal time for these sorts of improvements. That way Katie Mae, one of our oldest and most foot sore residents (a big black Percherone mare), can easily get in and out of her stall this next rainy season.

We also have 5 new arrivals that were just rescued on 3/27/18  from going to slaughter currently in our quarantine paddock. These two fillies and three colts, all a year or younger, must stay in isolation for 60 days to make sure they do not pass on any diseases or illnesses to our main herd. We would love to improve the mud situation leading to the shelter in this paddock as well so that all new rescues don't have so much mud to contend with.

As always we love and appreciate all our donors. Every little bit helps, and we hope you will help us meet our goal to assist our seniors with this improvement project! Thank you from everyone at Hytyme Equine Rescue!
