North Valley US Constitution Essay Project supports young junior high school age students in an in-depth learning experience of the United States Constitution with the sponsoring of an essay competition on a particular aspect of what they have learned. Last year's topic was the separation of the three governmental powers - Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.
This year (our second year) we are soliciting essays from eight schools in the Modesto, Denair, Hughson, and Turlock, California areas. The focus, this year, is the Fourth Amendment
We are offering 4 awards - Grand Prize, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Monetary awards range from $50 to $250. The Grand Prize school also receives a large, handsomely framed picture of the U.S. Constitution along with a plaque engraved with the winning student's name and the year of the award.
Awards will be presented in February 2017 with a reception and dinner afterwards honoring the winners, participants, and their family. All monies collected will be used for the items listed awards, printing costs, and the dinner/reception.
