As many of you know, my younger sister was diagnosed with stage two ovarian cancer back in February. She got her tumor removed and we thought everything was over, but little did we know it really was just the beginning. Through a lot of discussion, the tough decision was made to have her get chemotherapy to reduce her chance of the cancer coming back. So far she has gone through her first week session and her body is not handling it well. On Saturday, she was rushed to the ER because her body had gotten dehydrated (she was drinking water all day but her  body stopped retaining liquids due to the medicine) but she was allowed to go home that night. This should have never happened as her body still wasn't retaining liquids on its own and she had also caught an infection from someone there. As a result, she had to be rushed to the ER again the next day. The hospital she was taken to did not see her as an emergent case, so they told her she needed to wait 30 minutes to be seen. During this time, she lost her pulse completely and none of the doctors there did anything despite my mother screaming for help. This was a public hospital. Doing what any other would've done, she picked my sister up and rushed her to the nearest private hospital to save her life, knowing it would cost her but her daughter would be okay. She had gone into anaphylactic shock, so she is currently in the ICU and her organs are struggling. Now, we have received the first significant bill and it amounted to $100,000 pesos. This converts to roughly $5,000 dollars depending on the exchange rate.  We have asked family members to help as much as they can and I am trying to help from afar as well. I created this page to try and get friends to help a bit more, and I wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't emergent. Anything really does help and we would have the world of gratitude. Thank you all for taking the time to even read this, and again, anything helps!
