Update 5/21/19:

On Friday Justin’s medical team met with his family. Justin’s body was too sick, his organs had sustained too much damage and he was unable to breathe on his own. Together the medical team and the family made the decision to remove the support that was sustaining Justin’s life.  For those of you who know Justin, you know that he would not want to continue “living” confined to a bed and supported by machines. Surrounded by things that he loved: his family, his favorite music playing in the background, a view of the mountains out the window and the snow falling, Justin took his last breath peacefully and pain free at 10:56 pm on Monday, May 20th.

The last couple of weeks it became even more evident how loved Justin was, as many friends and family came from all over to offer support and say their goodbyes. The family is grateful for this outpouring of support, in all capacities, but mostly through the memories people shared of their time spent with Justin – these memories will help them navigate life moving forward.

Any financial contributions will now go towards funeral costs, and to help offset the expenses the family has incurred during this time.

THANK YOU for your support!

Rest in peace, Justin

Justin is a son, a brother, an uncle to his adorable niece and nephew, and a friend to many! He is a quiet soul who has impacted many people. He takes pride in being there for those he cares about. He's got a lot of life left to live, and a lot of people cheering him on!!

Justin hadn't been feeling well for a few weeks. His condition worsened and he was finally taken to the hospital on May 9th in Steamboat Springs. The medical team described his condition as "critical" and made the decision to have him airlifted to the MICU at UCHealth University of Colorado in Denver. The doctors immediately began working to save Justin's life and they haven’t stopped since. Justin is being treated for multi-system organ failure. With this condition there are many pieces to consider and think about when treating. Justin encountered some internal bleeding that they were able to stop. He has been fighting fluid build up in and around his lungs and throughout his body that they are working to reduce with dialysis. He has been on and off of a ventilator to help him breathe and now has a feeding tube to help get the nutrition his body needs to keep fighting. His journey will be a very long and slow process.

When Justin's mom and sister received the phone call in Minnesota about how grave this situation was they took the first flight to Denver to be with Justin. They have been by his side all week, which meant leaving an infant, a toddler and both of their jobs unexpectedly.

As you can imagine the cost of the lifesaving treatments Justin is receiving, and will continue to receive for the foreseeable future, will be astronomical.

Any donation you are willing/able to make can help offset Justin's rising medical costs and may also help alleviate some of the financial burden his mom and sister are incurring being in a nearby hotel, paying for hospital or take-out meals, renting cars, paying for flights, and not being able to work.

Your support, whether it be through financial means, thoughts, prayers, good vibes, or well wishes are all graciously accepted and very much appreciated.

Thank you!
